Dave Sheridan is a flute player from Killargue in North Leitrim, immersed in the traditional music of his locality from a young age. His music is deeply influenced by his family’s musical background. His grandfather, Paddy Sheridan, played the fiddle, and many members of his family, like his grandmother Julia, aunts Maureen and Julia, and uncles John and Eamonn, were also noted singers. This project will explore the connections between generations in his family and how their music has shaped his own. By looking back, Dave aims to show the impact of his family’s musical traditions on his journey as a musician as well as paying homage to the many local musicians who encouraged him throughout his musical life.
