Vincent Harrison – Fiddle Player

Born in 1927 in Tullycooley, Dromahair,  fiddle player Vincent was influenced in his youth by his mother, Mary, who sang and played the fiddle and by his mother’s brother, Hughie Travers, who was also a musician.

Hughie Travers

Vincent’s uncle Hughie played with the Dublin Metropolitan Garda Céilí Band who made a few recordings in the 1930’s. You can hear some of their recordings if you click into the link and you can also listen to Hughie Travers reel.

New York

Drumkeeran fiddler, Joe “Lacky” Gallagher would have also been influential but once Vincent emigrated to New York he struck up a friendship with renowned Sligo fiddle player Lad O’ Beirne, whom he often duetted with and some of those duets were recorded on O’ Beirne’s home-made recorder and are thankfully available to listen to.
